Pilates is a method of body-conditioning which aims to strengthen core postural muscles, such as the abdominals, and improve body alignment and posture. The method promotes long, strong muscles - flexibility without bulk. Pilates is a method of exercise utilised by men and women of all ages. Although Pilates is recommended by physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors for the rehabilitation and prevention of injury, it is not the sole domain of persons suffering back pain or injury! The dramatic effects of Pilates have been experienced by sports professionals, singers, film stars and circus acrobats.

Sports Massage - the full details.

Sports Massage involves hand-on treatment designed to manipulate soft tissue for injury prevention and therapeutic purposes. It is predominantly used for the preparation of muscles for exercise/sport and to alleviate post-exercise muscle stiffness.

Remedial Massage - What is it?

Remedial massage involves the use of hands-on technique to treat a specific injury/condition. This form of massage involves deep massage strokes and stretching/mobilisation techniques to treat an injury/condition.

General body massage (more superficial than sports and remedial massage) also offered to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels.
Exercise therapy/rehabilitation can also be offered in conjunction with sports/remedial massage. This involves the prescription of progressive exercises designed to get a client from an injured state to full function.

What to Expect?

An initial consultation will be required to assess the needs of a client through the use of a detailed questionnaire and examination before any treatment is given. This may involve observation and palpation (feeling) to assess symmetry, swelling, bruising and muscle tension.
Following this, treatment can be given, which can be relaxing however, if deep work is needed some discomfort maybe experienced.
